Directions to Higher Coombe Farm

A303 then M5 (we usually go via Taunton rather than Honiton) to Exeter, going straight onto the A38 to Plymouth which continues from M5. Turn off at Buckfastleigh for Totnes on A384.

At Totnes, turn right at the traffic lights for Kingsbridge (A381). Approximately 1 mile after the hamlet/village of Halwell, you pass a BP garage and Spar on the left hand side of the road, on a right hand corner. Keep on the A381, but take the second sign posted turning on the left after the garage, which says to “E Allington and Slapton”. Approximately 1 mile down this road turn right at Hinston Post, signed to East Allington.

After about 1 mile, you come to a staggered cross roads (Kellerton Cross) where you go straight over (actually left, then immediately right) towards Coles Cross and Sherford (East Allington will have been signed to the right, but ignore this!). Continue down the hill and at the bottom of the hill there is a hairpin bend with the buildings of Lower Coombe on your left. Go past these and just as you start to go uphill again, take the last left hand turn onto an unmade track signed Higher Coombe Farm. Continue on this track for abut 100 yards to a six bar gate with another Higher Coombe Farm sign on it.

When you come in through the gate, the drive forks – keep right and you will pass a barn/cottage on the left and a row of pig stys on the right. At the top of the drive, Well Cottage is straight ahead of you (also Nikki’s office) and the farmhouse is on the right, through the arch.

There is no mobile reception in the valley, so if you get stuck, retrace steps until you are higher
up!
